RV Campsite Breakdown Checklist — Pack Up & Roll Out
Leaving camp is where gear gets lost and sewer hoses get packed dirty. This checklist runs the teardown in the right order — inside, outside gear, black-then-gray dumping, utilities — and ends with a slow walk of the site.

Inside the rig
- Stow and secure everything loose; latch cabinets and the fridge
- Set the fridge for travel; close windows and roof vents
- Furnace/AC off; gather all trash and food scraps
- Check the site's picnic table and camp kitchen for your gear
Outside gear
- Chairs, rug, grill, and lights packed — clean and DRY if you canWet gear packed in a bay grows mildew by the next trip. Towel it off at least.
- Awning in and travel-locked
- Pull ground stakes and clotheslines; count what you staked down
- Load and tie down bikes, kayaks, and toys (Toy Hauler)
- Campfire DEAD out — drown it, stir it, feel for heat with the back of your hand
Utilities teardown
- Water heater off before disconnecting water
- Dump the BLACK tank first, then the gray — gray water rinses your sewer hoseUse the clear elbow to see when the rinse runs clean.
- Rinse the black tank if the site has a flush hookup; close and cap both valves
- Rinse and stow the sewer hose; gloves off, hands washed
- Pedestal breaker off, THEN unplug; stow the cord and surge protector
- Disconnect water, drain the hose, coil it, stow the regulator and filter
- Add a dose of tank treatment with a few gallons of water in the black tank
Folding down
- Bunk ends in, poles stowed, door out (if removable) (Pop-Up Camper)
- Tuck the canvas in as the roof comes down — nothing pinched in the seals (Pop-Up Camper)
- If the canvas is wet, pop up at home within 48 hours to dry it (Pop-Up Camper)
- Roof cranked fully down and latched all around (Pop-Up Camper)
Last look
- Walk the whole site slowly — chocks, jack pads, hose fittings, and kids' shoes hide in grass
- Leave the site cleaner than you found it
- Trash to the dumpster on your way out
- Now run the Pre-Trip Inspection checklist before you pull outHitch-up, lights, tires, and the final walk-around live there — back to the checklist menu and tap Pre-Trip Inspection.
